Tamera G. Rockholt

Career

Tamera G. Rockholt is a registered nurse (R.N.) with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University. She has extensive clinical nursing experience in various settings, including the emergency room (ER), Life Flight, critical care unit (CCU), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and labor and delivery.

Rockholt has worked as a nurse auditor for major health insurers, where she received intensive one-on-one training and audited hospital bills full-time for five years. She later founded Health Cost Management LLC, a small medical review company that gained significant market share before being sold to a national company in 2010.

Rockholt has been an integral part of medical billing fraud projects, collaborating with organizations such as the FBI, LA County District Attorney's Office, California Department of Justice, and special investigation units (SIUs) for various carriers. She has also served as a medical billing fraud trainer at the annual NICB Specialized Academy.

Consulting and Expert Witness

In addition to her nursing and auditing roles, Rockholt has consulted with physician groups to help set fee schedules. She has worked as a patient advocate and nurse case manager, and has been qualified as an expert witness in six states and in federal court.

Rockholt obtained an Associate Degree in Nursing from Oregon Institute of Technology in 1977 and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Oregon Health Sciences University in 1988.

Rockholt has received continuing education in hospital bill auditing from Blue Cross of Washington & Alaska in 1990, and has attended multiple seminars throughout the United States on medical coding and medical fraud from 2002 to the present.
