Brent Klapthor

Brent Klapthor, MD, MS is a board-certified emergency medicine physician with EMS fellowship training. He earned his MD from the University of California, San Francisco and an MS from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Klapthor actively practices emergency medicine across diverse settings including academic Level I trauma centers, community hospitals, and rural emergency departments. He regularly manages trauma, stroke, STEMI, and other critical emergencies and participates in interfacility transfer decisions. His expertise includes emergency department standard of care, diagnostic error, resuscitation, prehospital EMS care, and emergency systems of care.

Dr. Klapthor reviews cases involving:

-Emergency department standard of care, including evaluation and management of trauma, stroke, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), sepsis, and other critical emergencies

-Diagnostic error or delayed diagnosis in emergency medicine

-Emergency resuscitation and stabilization, including airway management and critical care in the emergency department

-Emergency department triage and clinical decision-making

-Interfacility transfer decisions and regional systems of care for trauma, stroke, and cardiac emergencies

-Emergency Medical Services (EMS) care, including paramedic assessment, treatment, and transport decisions

-Prehospital recognition and management of time-sensitive emergencies
