He is responsible for facilitating classes to Emergency Management, Police, Fire, Military, Academia, and other stakeholder personnel across the United States. These classes include Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Awareness, Conducting Risk Assessments for Critical Community Assets, Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, and Advanced Critical Infrastructure Protection. He is also an instructor in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and performs physical security assessments for corporations, businesses, and campuses through TEEX's enterprise business division.

United States Department of State (2011 - Present)

As an ATA Instructor/Consultant for the United States Department of State, Johnson plans and develops the instruction and delivery of the Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program classes involving the Protection of National Leadership (PNL) and Prevention of Attacks on Soft Targets (PAST) and associated mentor courses to the protection details of various countries, including Mexico, Jordan, Yemen, Maldives, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, and South Africa. This includes security/risk assessment training and physical assessments. He also delivers Protection of National Leadership Management (PNL-M) and Critical Incident Management (CIM) courses to officers in these countries, both as a staff instructor and leader of an instructor team.

United States Marshals Service (1991 - 2011)

Johnson served in various roles with the United States Marshals Service from 1991 to 2011, including:

His responsibilities included teaching police/criminal investigator operations, building entry and felony vehicle stop tactics, arrest, self-defense techniques, interview/surveillance, firearms instruction, and less-than-lethal (Simunition) instruction. He also oversaw high-threat warrant investigations and arrests, tactical operations, informant development and handling, investigative operations and reports, judicial threat investigations, court security officer pre-employment background investigations, risk/vulnerability assessments, and security systems oversight for U.S. courthouses and GSA federal buildings.

United States Border Patrol (1986 - 1991)

Johnson served as a United States Border Patrol Agent in San Diego, California, from June 1986 to January 1991. His duties included prevention, detection, and apprehension of persons and narcotics entering the United States illegally. He had extensive experience in both backcountry and checkpoint narcotics and immigration apprehension. Johnson received special weapons training at the San Diego Sheriff's Department SWAT Academy and served as a member of the San Diego Sector SWAT Team, performing high-risk duties in furtherance of the U.S. Border Patrol mission, including narcotics raids and undercover operations. He also served as a Field Training Officer, instructing new agents in policy and procedure, arrest tactics, criminal and immigration law, and investigation and prosecution of criminal and administrative cases.
