Britta M. Moss

Britta M. Moss is a property and casualty insurance industry consultant with over 25 years of experience in personal and commercial lines claims. She has worked as a claim representative, litigation examiner, supervisor, trainer, and manager. Moss has handled, supervised, managed, and provided training for claims involving auto damage, personal and commercial property damage, bodily injury, personal injury, property damage liability, commercial general liability, uninsured/underinsured motorists, medical payments, personal injury protection, allegations of bad faith, and extra-contractual exposure. She has served as an experienced expert witness for both plaintiff and insurer defense cases.

Education

Moss obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from The Ohio State University in 1994, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She later completed courses in Property Law, Tort Law, and Legal Analysis & Writing I at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 2017 and 2018.

Professional Experience

Moss has worked as a property and casualty claim consultant and expert witness since 2016, providing consultation and expert witness services for both plaintiffs and insurer defendants. She offers consultation on industry standards, practices, and norms for personal and commercial property and casualty claim handling procedures, supervision, management, and bad faith exposure management. Moss has experience as both a consulting and testifying expert in litigation matters, including case review, analysis, written opinions, rebuttals, affidavits, disclosures, deposition testimony, and trial testimony.

From 2015 to 2016, Moss worked as a consultant and expert witness at Highbanks Insurance Professionals, LLC, providing consultation services in industry standards, best practices, claim handling procedures, management, and bad faith exposure management. She also offered expert witness services on a case-by-case basis.

Between 2012 and 2014, Moss worked as an independent property and casualty claims consultant, offering professional support in claim matters, including analysis, evaluation, strategy, bad faith allegations and exposures, coverage review and analysis, audit services, and discovery disclosure guidance.

From 1994 to 2012, Moss worked at State Auto Insurance Companies in various roles, including Corporate Claim Manager, Corporate Claim Consultant/Specialist, Claim Examiner/Senior Claim Examiner, Claim Supervisor/Head of Training, and Claim Representative/Senior Claim Representative.

Moss is a professional member of the American Association of Insurance Management Consultants (AAIMCo) and an associate member of the CPCU Society - Columbus, OH Chapter. She is also a member of the Society of Claim Law Associates and the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance.

Community Service

Moss has been involved in community service activities, including serving as a precinct election official during the November 3, 2020 General Election in Delaware County, Ohio, and as a member of the Olentangy Local Schools Attendance Boundaries Committee in Powell, Ohio, from 2015 to 2017.
