Overview of the Case
This case involved Alberto Felix and Jamie Wright and arose from a motor vehicle collision that occurred on September 2, 2014, in Shelton, Connecticut. Felix was driving on Meadow Street when Wright’s vehicle struck his from behind. He filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court at Milford, with a return date of September 27, 2016. Attorney Richard Zayas of Zayas Law Firm represented the Plaintiff.
Allegations of Negligence
According to the complaint, Wright rear-ended Felix’s vehicle while he was stopped in traffic. The Plaintiff alleged that Wright failed to maintain control of her car, neglected to keep a proper lookout, and did not brake in time to avoid the collision. He also claimed that she had been speeding, following too closely, and failed to take evasive action. These actions, Felix argued, constituted violations of Connecticut General Statutes §§ 14-218a and 14-240.
Reported Injuries
Felix suffered multiple injuries as a result of the crash, including trauma to his cervical and lumbar spine, as well as to his right shoulder and elbow. He also experienced nervous shock and emotional distress. The pain and suffering persisted over time, and some injuries were diagnosed as permanent or likely to become permanent. These health issues significantly disrupted his daily life and overall well-being.
Claim for Damages
Felix incurred substantial medical expenses for treatment, medications, and diagnostic tests, and expected to face ongoing healthcare costs. He claimed damages exceeding $15,000 and sought any additional relief the Court deemed appropriate. The lawsuit emphasized the enduring physical and emotional toll the accident had taken on him.
