Your Public Website
How your auto-generated subdomain site works and how to publish it.
Exlitem can host a public website for you at your own subdomain — a polished landing page sourced from your profile, designed to help attorneys and search engines discover you outside the Exlitem directory.
#How your site gets created
Your site is generated either when you opt in from the Expert Dashboard, or when the Exlitem team builds one on your behalf as part of admin-assisted onboarding (typically after a verification call or a CV submission).
In both paths the generation pipeline runs the same way:
- We parse your CV and existing profile fields.
- We assign you a subdomain (slugified from your name; deduplicated if it collides with another expert).
- We render a website skeleton with sensible defaults — bio, credentials, accomplishments, photo.
- We save it with search engine indexing turned off, so the page is reachable at its URL but invisible to Google until you decide to publish.
#Reviewing your site before you publish
When our team builds your site for you, you'll receive an invite link that opens /expert/welcome/review-website. The page shows your site in an inline preview frame so you can see exactly what attorneys will see.
- Publish — flips the indexable switch on and removes the
noindextag. Search engines can now crawl and rank your site. - Skip for now — closes the page; the site stays live at its URL but remains hidden from Google. You can publish later from Dashboard → Website.

#Editing your site
Open Dashboard → Website to customise it any time. You can:
- Switch between templates
- Edit each section's content (intro, credentials, awards, publications, contact)
- Adjust the theme (colors, typography)
- Regenerate any AI-written copy with one click
Changes save automatically. If you've already published, edits go live as soon as Google re-crawls your subdomain.
#URL format
Your site lives at {your-subdomain}.exlitem.com. The subdomain is shown on the Website tab of your dashboard and on the review page.
If your generated subdomain doesn't feel right (typo, abbreviation, etc.), contact us before you publish — we can change it without breaking links since nothing is indexed yet.
Tip: Until you click Publish, the site is reachable at its URL but Google won't surface it in search results — useful for sharing a private preview with colleagues without committing to public ranking.
