Jury Awards $800k in Hunter Biden Laptop Defamation Suit
A federal jury in Alexandria, Virginia, has delivered a significant verdict in favor of cybersecurity expert Yaacov Apelbaum and his firm, XRVision, Ltd. The lawsuit stemmed from a 2024 Substack article by Jordan Arthur Bloom, which falsely labeled Apelbaum an "Israeli spy" and accused him of manipulating the Hunter Biden laptop story to favor foreign interests. The jury determined that Bloom acted with "actual malice," awarding a total of $800,000 in compensatory and punitive damages. The ruling reinforces the legal protections against defamatory claims that impute criminal conduct and professional misconduct, even within the context of high-profile political narratives.
