A Los Angeles County jury awarded George Stephenson $33,384,400 after finding that asbestos-containing lighting wiring and equipment tied to Mole-Richardson caused his mesothelioma. The jury placed 100 percent of the fault on the company, now known as PK&P Investment Co., and found that it acted with malice, oppression, or fraud. Stephenson, diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma in December 2024, had worked around studio lighting and staging equipment from 1968 into the 2000s.

A Santa Clara County woman won a $4.37 million jury verdict against BMO Bank after the bank reported her husband's entire mortgage balance as her own debt and failed to fix the error even after admitting the mistake. Solmaz Dehcheshmeh sued under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the California Consumer Credit Reporting Agencies Act, telling the Court her credit score dropped, lenders denied her business financing, and the stress sent her to a medical specialist. The jury found BMO acted in reckless disregard of her rights and awarded $4,000,000 in punitive damages under the FCRA alone.

Fontana employee backs into car; Jury awards $80K.

On March 26, 2024, Marcela Ceron De Sanchez stopped her car on Arrow Boulevard in Fontana, California, waiting to turn into an apartment complex. A City of Fontana employee, Tyrell Marcus Jones, got into his vehicle, activated his emergency lights, and reversed into her car without checking the lane behind him. She sued Jones and the City of Fontana for negligence. On June 2, 2026, a San Bernardino County jury found Jones 100% at fault and awarded Ceron De Sanchez $80,000 in damages.

A federal jury in the Eastern District of Texas ordered Samsung Electronics to pay $3 million to Vasu Holdings, LLC after finding that Samsung's products infringed a patent covering technology that allows mobile devices to switch seamlessly between cellular and WiFi networks without dropping an active call or data session. The jury sided with Vasu on one of three patents that went to trial, finding Claim 1 of U.S. Patent No. 8,886,181 both infringed and valid. It returned no-infringement verdicts on the remaining two patents.

A Pittsburgh man who was thrown from his motorcycle after a hit-and-run driver struck him from behind at a Penn Avenue intersection recovered $225,000 from a jury in Allegheny County. Samsung Loses $78.5M Patent Verdict Over Smart TV Ad Tech

A federal jury in the Eastern District of Texas awarded Anonymous Media Research Holdings $78.5 million after finding that Samsung Electronics infringed patents covering automatic content recognition technology embedded in its Smart TV advertising platform, Samsung Ads. The jury found Samsung infringed all five claims put before it — across two patents covering ACR data scrubbing and media measurement methods — and rejected Samsung's argument that the patents were invalid. The award was split 52% to the '848 Patent and 48% to the '911 Patent.

California Lemon Law: 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan Case

Mandaris Moore, a resident of Sacramento County, purchased a certified pre-owned 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan backed by a comprehensive manufacturer warranty. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle exhibited persistent transmission, electrical, climate control, and infotainment defects that authorized service centers failed to fix. Moore filed suit against automaker FCA US, LLC under California’s Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, alleging the vehicle was a "lemon" and seeking a full buyback or restitution.
